Analysing compliance in the finance industry (Español)

If you work in the finance industry, you'll already be familiar with how 'tickbox' courses work. A set of slide titles down the side; a narration that more than likely just repeats what's written on the slides; an easy multiple choice question at some point to 'prove' that employees understand the course; and a metaphorical tick at the end. Well done, you've ticked off compliance.

But who is that helping - and is it even helping the employer? This whitepaper from Blackboard...

MobileIron secures deal with Lenovo as VMware goes down managed service route

MWC Enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider MobileIron has announced a partnership with equipment manufacturing giant Lenovo to help secure and manage PCs and other devices – with one eye on Windows 10.

The deal, announced at Mobile World Congress, means Lenovo customers can purchase MobileIron’s security and management platform alongside their own PCs, tablets, and smartphones. The theory around securing Windows 10 makes sense; given extended support for Windows 7 is set to run out in January 2020, according to Microsoft’s

The importance of user adoption when implementing ERP

(c)iStock.com/Dmitrii Guzhanin

Like any of new type of system or process, change management is essential when implementing ERP software. Most managerial staff are aware of this, however, there is one important aspect often overlooked or underestimated that can cause your shiny new system to fall into unraveling disarray. This aspect is human, specifically referred to in this case as ‘user adoption’.

Do not assume you know how employees work

Assuming you know the intricacies of every...

Why the software-defined enterprise isn’t the future, but now

(c)iStock.com/Ivan Bliznetsov

VMworld this year, as ever, was very impressive and a total success. It was a whirlwind few days of executive meetings extremely concise and well-formed session content from the VMware team and potentially our best customer event at the conference yet, with nearly 200 people at the Computacenter event.

This VMworld may prove to be a watershed event. VMware reinforced the perspective that a software defined future is no longer optional but instead the “new normal”. The...

(c)iStock.com/Akindo

The environment for CIOs remains a challenging one in the face of digital disruption. A new report from Logicalis argues that CIOs have less control over IT spending than ever before, and are increasingly looking at partner-led services as a result.

The study, the IT solutions provider’s 2016 global CIO survey which polled more than 700 CIOs worldwide, found that, for two in five respondents, they make less than half of the decisions on IT spending.

73% of firms surveyed are now...

The email revolution? Why email is still king in the enterprise

(c)iStock.com/merznatalia

It seems to be the story of our lives that just as you learn how to use one form of technology, it changes. In the last 10 years, I’ve texted, used Instant Messenger, Skype, FaceTime, Slack and countless other forms of electronic communication. But the one consistent tool that I’ve always relied on has been email. Many herald these new tools as marking the end of email or at least relegating it to “legacy” technology. But in our opinion that’s simply not...
