SkyGiraffe secures $6m series A funding – and announces Slack bot integration
End to end enterprise mobility platform provider SkyGiraffe has announced a $6 million (£4.6m) series A funding round to continue expanding the capabilities of its platform, as well as a bot which utilises the interface of productivity platform Slack to connect to any legacy enterprise data system.
The San Francisco-based firm, which is building on its previous $3m round of seed funding last year, has bolstered its case with investments from James Lindenbaum, founder and CEO of PaaS firm Heroku, Ilya Sukhar, CEO and founder of app backend provider Parse, and Kevin Mahaffey, CTO and founder of mobile security firm Lookout.
Boaz Hecht, SkyGiraffe CEO and founder, explained the importance of such validation at the investment level as opposed to the advisory stage. “Being successful entrepreneurs who built the top player in their respective fields, which are around our fields, I want to make sure that I’m calibrated with the right guys,” he told Enterprise AppsTech. “So that’s why I went to pitch them and brought them on as an investor.”
While the funding was given main billing in the press material, the integration with Slack is certainly an interesting development. Bots can be deployed in minutes, while workflows can be developed on top of live datasets. The system also enables secure read and writes to any enterprise system. SkyGiraffe has open sourced the code, which can be viewed on GitHub here.
“Enterprise mobility solutions often make grand claims, but rarely do they deliver on their promises,” said Dovi Frances, SGVC managing partner in a statement. “Having looked into other competitors in this landscape that proclaim they have solved the enterprise mobility puzzle, we’ve found they are still unable to provide a cost and resource-effective solution with the right user interface.
“SkyGiraffe is the only one offering a full-stack solution that truly works and scales for the enterprise.”
